TDF Sea trout flies

Being a Danish fly angler might also mean that sea trout fishing is a passion – at least it has been for me since I grew up with it. In the past 20 years, I have also fished for giant sea trout in TDF, Argentina and that has made me even more addicted to fly fishing for sea trout, which is truly a magic fish! It brings so many wonderful challenges to the game.

Fishing hardcore for sea trout all my life has for sure made me a better salmon angler as the sea trout is a very moody fish and you therefore have to think, not just cast.

I have tried many different patterns over the years. However, it seems to be the same patterns and colors that prove themselves to be outstanding. Therefore, we have decided to share some of those here that are meant for wet fly fishing. These patterns have been adjusted in size to match the general conditions that I have seen and experienced over a lifetime as a sea trout angler. We have also added a few ingredients to those patterns that I know sea trout really loves.

All the TDF sea trout flies are weighted in order to perfect their motion and balance in both a slow and a strong current.

My opinion is that it is never the fly that catches the fish… but the flies presented here do make a difference.

  • Do they work in Scandinavia as well? – Yes!

P.S.: All TDF flies are tied by a professional Danish fly tier and therefore maintains a standard of high quality, in both material and workmanship.
